On this side of the globe

We finished recording the new record a couple of weeks ago, and over the past 2 or so we've been mixing. I feel like there's not a whole lot I can say about it. These songs took forever to record. We've spent the past year and a half writing, practicing, rewriting, practicing, editing, recording, rerecording, yelling, etc. Lots of 20 hour days between work and recording. Lots of late nights. Now it's all coming together via email here and there with mix notes and nitpicking. I've spent the past few days listening to the second mix versions of the songs. Almost done. I can't wait.

Recording has started!

Why is the world in love again? Why are we marching hand-in-hand? Why are the ocean levels rising up? It's because we've begun recording our next album. It feels like it's been so long since we've recorded (I mean, the last time we did was in 2009, so I guess that's why) that it's almost surreal to be back in a studio watching Grayum track bass and Nick shred drums.

At least personally, recording has always been bitter sweet. On one hand I'm watching all of the hard work we've put into these songs materialize and come to life, but on the other you question it all and wonder if you've given the songs as much attention as they deserve. This time around it's completely different. Before we've even finished tracking I can safely say this is the most excited I've ever been about new Safety music. We still have a lot left to track, and maybe I'm getting ahead of myself, but I couldn't be happier with these songs, and I wouldn't want to be tracking them with anyone else. Not only do I get to make music that I love, but I get to do it with my best friends.

Now that all that shit is out of the way, here are some pictures!
